Iconic Week celebration: Various activities held across Pulwama

Pulwama : As part of ‘AzadiKaAmritMahotsav’ celebrating 75 years of India’s Independence and celebration of Iconic Week, various activities were held across the Panchayats of the district to spread awareness through the medium of Grass roots level democracy.
During Maha Gram Sabhas, a number of resolutions were adopted for saturation of 100 point programme indicators identified by the LG administration for Jammu and Kashmir.
Besides, the Gram Sabhas also ensured to work out a strategy to eradicate the use of plastic, develop SwachPanchayat and formulate Panchayat heritage plan.
The Gram Swaraj Month activities were also held at Block Kakapora, Block Dadsara and Block Pampore. The programme with 100 different commitments and agendas will focus on rural infrastructure, good governance, youth empowerment, environment protection, wage employment and increased women participation.
The officials and PRIs manning the Panchayat Secretariats to work in team spirit for redressal of the individual and community based issues through Panchayat Secretariats making optimal use of the Panchayat and forward the cases to higher authorities through proper channel wherever the intervention of the superior officials is required on priority basis, so that the main purpose of the panchayat Secretariat is achieved in letter and spirit.
Gram Swaraj Month is being observed to strengthen Panchayati Raj Institutions to realize the vision of Gram Swaraj.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairperson said that it is an appropriate time for appraising the functioning of PRIs in different ways so as to reflect on emerging trends and to identify the impediments that have emerged in the process of democratic decentralization.
Bari said the effectiveness of PRIs as conduits for delivery of economic and social services. These include participation, transparency and sustainability and the interface of PRIs with other parallel organisations operating at the Panchayat level.
DDC Chairperson Pulwama, Syed Bari Indrabi; BDC chairperson Block Kakapora, Umar Jan; DDC Member Kakapora, Mansha; PRIs, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tral, Shabir Ahmad Raina besides Officers from Rural Development and other line departments attended the Panchayat Level Gram Sabhas.
