Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’: FCS&CA Kashmir holds daylong prog to celebrate PMGKAY in Srinagar

Srinagar : The Department of FCS&CA Kashmir on Monday organized a daylong programme to celebrate Pradhan Mantra Gareeb Kaylan Anna Yojna (PMGKAY) as part of ‘AzadiKaAmritMahotsav’ in Srinagar.
The Director FCS&CA, Kashmir, Dr Abdul Salam Mir was chief guest at the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mir said the reason for celebration of this event was to highlight the impact of Pradhan Mantra Gareeb Kaylan Anna Yojna (PMGKAY) during the pandemic. He said the PMGKAY was kick-started in March 2020 by the Prime Minister of India amid the Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
He further emphasized that the scheme is part of Atmanirbhar to supply free food grains to the weaker sections of the society. He pointed out the scheme has been extended by the Govt for further six months to distressed sections of society.
On this occasion, the Assistant Director Srinagar South, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani elaborated and gave an extensive presentation of various schemes wherein 5 kg food grains per person per month over and above the regular monthly food grains is being provided to AAY & PHH beneficiaries in Srinagar district.
While giving the performance of district Srinagar under this scheme, he informed that 4, 99,288 beneficiaries are availing the benefits every month.
Assistant Director Srinagar, M YounisGanie also spoke about the benefits of the scheme and asked the public to avail this facility at all the Govt sale centers/Fair price shops of district Srinagar. He said the PMGKAY scheme averted the rise in extreme poverty in the district.
In the end, Assistant Director Srinagar thanked the Tehsil Supply Officers of Bemina, Batamaloo and Qammerwari Zones and their team for their efforts in making this program successful at all the levels.
Assistant Directors of Srinagar district Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, Mohd YounisGanie and Tehsil Supply Officers along with respectable dignitaries of Mohalla Committees attended the function.
