Jammu: A farmers’ awareness camp was Friday organized by the Animal Husbandry department Jammu here in remote village Bamyal.
During the camp, the farmers were educated about entrepreneurship development schemes of the department in the dairy and poultry sectors. Participants were provided complete information about the schemes as well as how to apply for those.
Extension Officer Publicity Wing, DrNadeem Ahmed addressed the farmers and underscored the importance of vaccinations, timely deworming and proper nutritional management in dairy animals. He further urged the farmers to come forward and extract maximum benefits out of departmental schemes which would help in creating better livelihood opportunities for livestock farmers and unemployed rural youth.
Dr. Sandeep Kumar, VAS Publicity Wing, informed the gathering that the department of Animal Husbandry provides 100 percent incentives to new poultry entrepreneurs for the cost of first lot of chicks ranging from one thousand to ten thousand chicks , besides 50 percent subsidy for other components associated with modern poultry farming under flagship Integrated Poultry Development Programme.
Dr.Nisara, VAS Pangali, Ghulam Mustafa, SarpanchBamyal, also spoke on the occasion. PRI members and a large number of farmers were also present on the occasion.
