Secy DLSA G’bal inaugurates Plantation Drive at Faculty of VS&AH SKUAST, Shuhama

G’bal: The Secretary District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal, Tabasum Wednesday inaugurated the plantation drive by planting saplings of forest plants at the Faculty of Veterinary Sciences with the aim to fight global warming and reducing its impact on climate change and ultimately presenting a better environment for future.
The DLSA Ganderbal in collaboration with Faculty of Veterinary Sciences and Animal Husbandry (VS&AH) at Shuhuma had conducted the programme regarding world water day.
Secretary DLSA was the Chief Guest while Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Prof M.T Banday and other members of Faculty of Veterinary Sciences including Dr Sajjad Ahmad Bhat, Student Welfare Officer;Owais Ahmad, Divisional Forest Officer Sindh Forest Division Ganderbal; Dr.NahidaAkther, Chief Project Officer National Fish Seed Farm; Dr AmbreenHamdani, Advocate G.R Rather Panel Lawyer DLSA Ganderbal, Shabir Ahmad (AEE) Jal Shakti, Staff of District Legal Services Authority Ganderbal, Para Legal Volunteers, students of FVSC were also present.
The programme was followed by a signature campaign against the use of Polythene and Plastic. The campus was declared as No Plastic Zone. On the occasion Secretary DLSA stated that the authorities of DLSA Ganderbal conduct a number of programmes creating awareness among the masses regarding the laws and also the schemes which are existing for the benefit of the society.
On the occasion Secretary encouraged gathering to settle their dispute by amicable means i.e mediation and ways of compromise, so that people do not get entangled in the procedural formalities which are to be followed for filing the cases before court of law.
The purpose of the DLSA is to reach out to the marginalized sections of the society and to provide free legal aid to the people who are unable to access the doors of justice so that there is no difference between the poor and the rich people and both are placed in equal position and the doors of justice are made accessible to all, she added.
Wednesday the purpose of this gathering is to make students aware of the Right to Water, Right to live in any civilized society implies the right to food, and water, environment, education, medical care and shelter as these are basic rights recognized in any civilized society. It is the duty of every citizen of the country to protect and improve the environment i.e. forest lakes and rivers and to have passion for living creatures.
Dean Forest Veterinary Sciences highlighted the importance of water to animals. Animals need fresh water for their bodies to function. Pollution in water not only harms plant growth but also allows plants to absorb dangerous chemicals from the water and pass them on to animals that rely on them for survival which in turn are consumed by humans.
Divisional Forest Officer, Owais Ahmad highlighted the theme of world water Day is “Groundwater making the invisible visible. He laid thrust about the importance of water and educated the gathering to conserve it.
He encouraged the students that we should make every day as water day because water is an essential part of our lives and we should conserve it.
