Plantation drive kick-started at Sofanaman, Shopian

Shopian : The District Youth Services and Sports Department Shopian in collaboration with District Administration Shopian Tuesday kick-started plantation drive at Sofanaman, here.
The plantation drive was presided over by Addition Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Shopian, Mushtaq Ahmed Simnani in presence of District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Gurmukh Singh Dutta.
On the occasion, the Additional Deputy Commissioner planted a deodar tree.
Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that the aim of planting the trees is to generate awareness among the masses for the importance of planting trees in protection of the environment and human survival and urged upon all stakeholders including masses to plant more and more trees.
DYSSO also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of tree plantation and said trees offer many environmental benefits.
Among others, Incharge activities Reyaz Ahmad Wachkoo, officers, officials of DYSSO were present at the event.
