Doda : District Development Council (DDC) Chairman, Doda, Dhananter Singh Kotwal on conducted an extensive tour of GaiDessa, a remote area of the district, to oversee the progress of developmental works and to listen to the public grievances, here the other day.
The area has a population of 20,000 souls with limited basic facilities and is a Niabat of Bhagwah Tehsil.
The Chairman visited Niabat office and inspected Higher Secondary School Gai, where he interacted with staff, public, and students. Locals complained that the only Higher Secondary School of the far flung area was facing the shortage of teaching staff.
He also met with PRIs and Public and listened to their grievances. The main grievance projected was the lack of power supply to small hamlets.
Responding to the demand, the DDC Chairman said that the matter was already in his knowledge and the same has been brought into the notice of the concerned department.
He also noticed that the road to the area was not maintained properly, for which he assured to take up the matter with the authorities for its early repair. He also met several public deputations at Gai, Manjmi and at Bhagwah and listened to their issues.
The Chairman was accompanied by DDC member Jaya Rani, BDC Chairperson Joginder Singh and local Sarpanches and Panchs. The Chairman also took stock of the implementation of individual beneficiary schemes and asked the PRIs to facilitate the administration in reaching out to the eligible people at the grassroots level. Further, he urged them to make the public aware about the schemes. The DDC Chairman said that the pace of developmental works is transforming the rural landscape, and he is hopeful that the dedication of PRIs and officials will achieve unprecedented levels of development.
