Ramban :The District Health Society, Ramban Thursday organized a seminar cum awareness program to mark the World TB Day with this year’s theme of ‘Invest to end TB, save lives under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program in District Hospital.
The program was presided over by the Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam in the presence of the President, Municipal Council, Ramban, Sunita Sumbdia.
Chief Medical Officer,Dr. Mohammed Fareed Bhat, Medical Superintendent, Dr. Abdul Hamid Zargar, Dr. Parvez Ahmed, Dr Bilal Ahmed and students of ANMT Institute educated the participants, mainly patients and their attendants about the history, prevention and treatment of TB.
On the occasion, 10 volunteers of the district, who helped in detecting the TB cases during the recent ‘Har Ghar Dastak’ campaign were felicitated by the district authorities.
It was informed District Ramban recorded 313 cases of TB in 2021-22 including 219 in Ramban Block, 49 in Gool, 26 in Batote and 19 in Ukhral.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC advised the participants not to be complacent about TB just like Covid as it has become all the more urgent to check its spread by 2025. He asserted that Covid eradication like efforts would be required for the eradication of TB.
Listing the measures taken to improve patient care in the district, the DC said that much improvement has been made with establishment of two Oxygen Generation Plants in District Hospital,1 each in Sub District Hospital Banihal and CHC, Batote, establishment of Dialysis Unit in District Hospital and provision of RTPCR testing. He further informed that an audiometry facility would also be provided in the District Hospital soon. He said that Ramban stands at 4th place in JK UT with regard to Covid vaccination of 12-14 yr age group and was ahead in all anti Covid campaigns and enforcement of CAB drives which has been lauded by one and all.
He reiterated on continuation of enforcement of Covid Appropriate Behaviour (CAB) and informed that about Rs 1 cr fine has been collected from CAB violators so far.
While appreciating the efforts of CMO, Dr Fareed for assisting in all these achievements, the DC directed him to stress on cleanliness and sanitation in hospitals.
