Srinagar|March, 18: Terming the migration of Kashmiri pandits due to eruption of militancy in Jammu and Kashmir in 1989 as the darkest chapter of history , Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen has said that the way all kashmiri muslims have been shown responsible for the dreadful militancy events in the much controversial Film ” Kashmir Files” was totally wrong and prejudiced. He said , the fact was , that all inhabitants of Kashmir including Sikhs and muslims have critically faced the brunt of violence ,not only kashmiri pandits .
In a statement issued on Friday Hakeem while expressing his views on the exodus of kashmiri pandits in reference to the film ” Kashmir Files ” said that everybody who was proclaimed pro Indian irrespective of being muslim, hindu or sikh felt insecure with apprehension of might be killed. Their apprehension became more solid when they saw people being blindly shot as indian agents. He said the people who were killed were not only pandits but muslims and sikhs as well. The people associated with pro Indian parties were the first soft target . He said the muslims ,in a bid to save their lives ,declared on oath through newspapers that they have shun their party’ affiliations henceforth and those who didn’t do that also migrated like other pandit brothers. He said kashmiri pandits felt themselves more insecure. The law & order and security situation was so broken , that the administration itself choose to facilitate migration of pandits , in a bid to save their lives . He said under such a grim and uncertain circumstances ,
even close muslim neighbours and friends of kashmiri pandits could not give them clear guarantee of life for staying put , as they were themselves scared of the gun . ” So portraying muslims responsible for the exodus of kashmiri pandits in the controversial movie ” Kashmir Files” was far from truth ,which was bound to breed hostility and hatred against muslims and common Kashmiris , Hakeem added . He said that ” the film Kashmir files have severely dented the secular image of kashmiri muslims adding that the film is a poisonous and disgusting propaganda against muslims particularly kashmiri muslims , not withstanding the fact what hell Kashmiri muslims lived during the prolonged militancy.

PDF Chairman observed that the exodus of kashmiri pandits was most unfortunate as the Kashmiri culture was incomplete without them . He said even now kashmiri muslims have same
love, respect and sympathy for their loved Kashmiri Pandit brothers as earlier and demanded to stop screening of the film at the earliest as it has dangerous implications , not only on Kashmiri Muslims but entire muslim community throughout world over more particularly all over the country .He said it is not time to haunt wounds of past and generate hatred on communal basis but to think about practical ways and means for ensuring reunion of kashmiri pandits and muslims . He said
making films that can further aggravated bad memories and create divide in our brotherly feelings would be to the benefit of none.
