Pulwama : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested three gamblers in Pulwama and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that acting on specific information received about presence of gamblers in the house of Zahoor Ahmad Hafiz son of Gh Mohd Hafiz resident of Prichoo, a police party of PS Pulwama raided the said house and arrested three gamblers on the spot who were identified as Zahoor Ahmad Hafiz (House owner) Mushtaq Hafiz son of Gh Mohd and Adil Ahmad Bhat son of Gh Mohi-ud-din Bhat all residents of Prichoo Pulwama.
Stating that officers have seized stake money of ₹ 66500/- and playing cards from the gamblers, police in it’s statement further said that the said accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
“ A case vide FIR No. 56/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama and investigation set into motion”, reads further the said police statement.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding gambling activities in their neighbourhood, but warned that people found indulging in gambling activities will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law.
