Drug peddler arrested in Baramulla, Contraband substance recovered: police

Baramulla  : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that a police party of Police Station Kreeri under the supervision of SDPO Kreeri Dr. Khalid Ashraf at a checkpoint established at Waripora Payeen Kreeri intercepted a suspicious person identified as Bashir Ahmad Mir son of Ab Rehman Mir resident of Kreeri and upon checking, officers recovered 55grams of Charas like substance from his possession.
Stating that the accused has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody, police in it’s statement further said that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Kreeri and further investigation is in progress.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
