IWD celebrated at Drugmulla block of Kupwara

Kupwara: International Womens Day was celebrated on Wednesday at Drugmulla block which was organized by Rural Development Department Kupwara.
Assistant Commissioner Development (ACD), Kupwara, Mehraj-u-din Shah was chief guest on the occasion.
BDC chairperson Drugmulla, Shaheena; Tehsildar, BDO and different NGOs participated in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, the ACD emphasized the role of women in various walks of life especially in the development process of the district. He highlighted various measures taken by J&K Government for empowerment of the women in different professions.
Later, the ACD inspected Umeed Centre Drugmulla for which Rs.2.50 lakh under Area Development Fund was granted for installation of Air conditioners to further boost the women empowerment in the area.
The ACD also announced the opening of one business shop for women entrepreneurs to facilitate marketing of their products.
Various Supervisors, Anganwari Workers and helpers also participated in the event.
