Akbar Lone examines CAGs audit paras of SW,TA deptts at PAC meet

Srinagar: A meeting of the Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was held here Monday under the Chairmanship of MLA, Mohammad Akbar Lone to discuss the overall functioning of Social Welfare and Tribal Affairs Department.

The Committee discussed the Action Taken Reports on CAGs Audit paras of Social Welfare (SW) and Tribal Affairs (TA) Departments, besides the physical and financial achievements of the departments.

Legislators, Aijaz  Ahmed Khan, Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, Mushtaq Ahmed Shah, Abdul Rashid Dar, Shamima Firdous, Pawan Kumar Gupta and Firdous Ahmed Tak attended the meeting and gave their valuable suggestions to make both the departmental schemes more functional.

The Committee was not satisfied over the reply and compliance report of the department and directed to examine Audit paras in next meeting. The Committee directed the Secretaries, Social Welfare and Tribal Affairs to come up with action taken reports of the departments on the directions and observations of the PAC as per the reports laid on the house presented from time to time and submit before the Committee in its next meeting.

The Committee sought full details reports of widow, old age pension, marriage assistance schemes and other pending cases under the various central and state sponsored schemes so that the committee would take action on the matter accordingly.

The Committee also discussed the present status of existing and new Anganwari Centres working in the state and directed the concerned authorities to provide district wise full detail report of Anganwari Centres so that the committee to be examined accordingly. It was also directed the concerned officers to fix responsibility to compliance the proper reply to the Committee.

Secretary, Social Welfare, Sajad Ahmed and Secretary, Tribal Affairs, Salma Hamid briefed the Committee about the various schemes and projects including present status of pending cases of Widow and Old Age Pension, Marriage Assistance Scheme, Tribal Affairs and other schemes besides Action Taken Report on CAGs audit paras. They assured the Committee to provide all the requisite information to the Committee regarding the departmental schemes before well in its next meeting.

Accountant General, CAG JK, H Abbas also briefed the Committee about the observations pointed out by the CAG and Action Taken Report given by the department besides State Mission Director, ICDS, G A Sofi also briefed the Committee about the various schemes under ICDS.

Among others, Director General (A&T),  Altaf Hussan, Director Finance, SWD, Abdul Majid, Director Social Welfare, Kashmir Hashmat Ali, Director Tribal Affairs, Mohammad Rafi besides senior officers of Social Welfare, Tribal Affairs Department and Assembly Secretariat were also present in the meeting.
