Kulgam The Sheep Husbandry Department (SHD) Kulgam Thursday provided 6 Hoggets to a sheep breeder to compensate for his losses suffered in a leopard attack in the Lamed area of the district, here.
The breeder had lost 06 sheeps in the Leopard attack.
These hoggets were handed over to the beneficiary, DilberHussain Khan with insurance cover within a maximum cost of Rs 8000 per animal including Insurance premium for the first Year at his residence in village Lamed, by District Sheep Husbandry Officer Mohammad Rafeeq Shah.
Present on the occasion were Sarpanch of the village besides several officers of the department.
District Sheep Husbandry Officer said that these hoggets were provided to the breeder under a newly started scheme of the department which has been rolled out to Support breeders/farmers to compensate their losses in disasters and wild animal attacks.
He said under the scheme breeders can be compensated to a minimum of 05 animals and maximum up to 30 animals.
