7 gamblers arrested in Baramulla, Stake money seized: police

Baramulla : Police on Tuesday said that it has arrested seven gamblers in Baramulla and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that acting on specific information, police parties from Police Station Sheeri & Police Station Baramulla raided gambling sites at Pehliharan Sheeri & Bus Stand Baramulla following inputs about gambling activities and apprehended 7 gamblers, stating therein further that officers have seized stake money of ₹20,220/- and playing cards from the gamblers who have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody.
“Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and further investigation has been initiated”, reads further the above quoted police statement.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding gambling activities in their neighbourhood, but warned that people found indulging in gambling activities will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law.
