Udhampur : An awareness cum sensitization programme was organised by J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board under AzadiKaAmritMahotsavhere at village Thathi of District Udhampur to aware the unemployed youth of the area about different self-employment schemes being implemented by the board.
In the awareness camp, Dy.CEO J&K KVIB Jammu Division Tilak Raj, Lead District Manager Udhampur, Director RSETI Udhampur Functional Manager DIC, Bankers, Sarpanches and Panches and a large number of unemployed youth were present. The Theme of the programme was “From Swadeshi to Aatmanirbhar Bharat-A Journey by the People of the India”.
The Dy. CEO J&K KVIB Jammu Division impressed upon the unemployed youth and the budding entrepreneurs to come forward to avail the benefits of self-employment schemes to start their employment generating ventures. He while elaborating the schemes said that under Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) and Jammu and Kashmir Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) schemes 25 to 35% subsidy is provided to the beneficiaries, whereas, an assistance up to 25 lakhs and 10 lakhs is provided under manufacturing and service sectors respectively. He further said that these schemes were also envisioned to reduce migration of the people from rural to urban areas in search of job opportunities. He made clear that both the schemes are online and people can avail their benefits from their home without visiting offices. Dy. The CEO went into the details about the types of the activities allowed under both the schemes and those that fall under the negative list. He gave a detailed presentation of both PMEGP and JKREGP schemes to the participants.
Functional Manager DIC stressed upon the unemployed youth that besides PMEGP, the Department of Industries have other employment Schemes also for setting up of industrial units, where handsome incentives are available. She gave a detailed overview of all such schemes.
Lead District Manager assured the prospective entrepreneurs that banks are always at their service, he however impressed that unemployed youth must opt for new and innovative projects having more employment potential and market demand.
PRIs appreciated the step taken by the J&K KVIB to educate the unemployed youth of the area and urged that such programmes must be a regular feature and may be organised at every nook and corner of every block.
