Surprise raid conducted to prevent illegal mining at Kokernag

Ang : In a bid to prevent illegal mining of minor minerals under Jammu and Kashmir Minor Mineral Concession, Storage, Transport of Minerals and Prevention of Illegal Mining Rules, 2016, Tehsildar Kokernag today conducted a surprise raid along the stretch of Bringi nallah and seized tractors involved in illegal transportation of minor minerals.
There has been a steady focus on curbing the menace of illegal mining in Kokernag and other parts of district Anantnag.
Tehsildar Kokernag said that people involved in illegal mining should desist from such illegal activities and assured that more such raids will take place in near future.
Meanwhile, the Tehsildar said the issue will be taken up with District Mineral officer to keep a strict vigil on such illegal activities. ARTO Anantnag will be apprised to check registration of such tractors involved in the seizure.
