Pulwama : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a notorious drug peddler in Pulwama and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that Police Station Pulwama receiving a specific information through reliable sources about one person namely Riyaz Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Mohd resident of Bandzoo indulging in drug peddling and hoarding a large quantity of narcotic substances in his residential house tasked the job of dealing wih him him to a Police party from Police Station Pulwama which raided the said location at Bandzoo Pulwama and upon checking officers recovered 6Kgs of Bhang Patri from the said house. Stating that the accused person was arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody, police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 46/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Pulwama and investigation set in motion.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
