ADDC reviews progress on repair of defunct hand pumps in Reasi

Reasi : Additional District Development Commissioner ReasiJyotiSalathia on Thursday chaired a meeting to review progress made in repair and maintenance of Hand pumps in the district.
The meeting was informed that a total amount of Rs. 2.4 lakh was provided by the Chief Engineer Jal Shakti with the condition that the funds shall be utilized by the concerned Block/Panchayat for maintenance and repair of Hand pumps as per the action plan to be approved by the District JalJeevan Mission Committee comprising twelve members.
This committee includes ADDC JyotiSalathia, CPO SunitaKanchan, DFO Jyotsana, CMO Rajeev Sharma Sharma, ACD AnirudhRai, CEO Mohammad Aziz, DIO Rajinder Kumar, SC Hydraulic Udhampur, DSWO, XenJal Shakti Reasi, Xen Groundwater Div Jammu.
The ADDC said that the Committee shall focus on the water scarcity areas of District Reasi likeArnas, JigBhagli, Bhambla, Chinka and many more.
Taking stock of the situation, the ADDC said that people of the district are mostly relying on tube wells for drinking water in the summer and asked for early completion of repair work.
The sanitation and drinking water department was asked to fix those defunct hand pumps after gathering the accurate information from the remote areas and also formulate a micro plan to implement the work.
The ADDC also sought inputs from the concerned Xens and other officers and shortlisted around 35 hand pumps in the first instance.
