Anantnag : The District Level Committee for Forest Rights Act (DLC-FRA) met Thursday at DC office Anantnag.
DDC Chairman, M. YousufGorsi; DDC Anantnag, Dr PiyushSingla; ADC Gulzar Ahmad, SDMs of Pahalgam, Doru and Kokernag along with DFO Anantnag, Bijbehara were present on the occasion.
A total of 41 individual claims under the act were approved.
Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairman said through this act the scheduled tribe and other forest dwelling tribes were benefited which was their long pending demand.
DC impressed upon the officers to expedite the claim process of applicants besides stressed upon the officers to organise awareness camps in coordination with PRIs for awareness about the Act and clear the doubts with regard to the act.
He further said that the purpose and spirit of the act is to give the forest dwellers their right and directed the Tehsildars for speedy issuance of ST certificates so that every eligible and deserving family will get benefited by this act.
