Baramulla : Police on Wednesday said that is has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that a police party of Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri Junaid Wali at a checkpoint established at Dachi Uri intercepted a suspicious person identified as Mushtaq Hussain son of Hussain Shah resident of Dani Basgran Uri and upon checking officers recovered 1.7Kgs of Cannabis from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said a case under relevant sections of law has been registered at PS Uri and further investigation is in progress.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
