Rajouri :District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal Wednesday stressed on taking effective and immediate measures for speedy redress of genuine public concerns. He was chairing a block divas event held at Doongi, a border area of the district.
Among the others present during the event included DDC Member Doongi, Khalid Chowdhury; BDC Doongi, Raiz Chowdhury; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; CHO, Madan Lal; Tehsildar Rajouri, Mehmood Khan; ARTO, Shami Kumar; ExEn Jal Shakti Rajouri, Mushtaq Ahmed; ExEn PWD Rajouri, Maqbool Hussain; Social Activist Anees Kassana besides other district and sectoral officers.
During the event, the public and their representatives sought better road connectivity, up-gradation of water and power infrastructure, meeting shortage of staff in education and health institutions etc.
Specific issues projected were Tehsil status for Doongi, start of work on the already sanctioned GDC Doongi, sanctioning of a medical block at Chatyar, start of work on KV school, meeting shortage of staff at PHC Naryala and PHC Androoth, sanctioning of a PHC for Nambla and Challas, up-gradation of the already functioning health institutions etc.
Other demands included, implementation of the Jal Jeevan schemes, meeting shortage of electricity poles, streamlining of electricity bills, augmentation of the power infrastructure, tendering of chitti Bakri to Nambla road, renovation of Sasalkote to Challas road, Keri to Dassal road, blacktopping of road from main road to Shamshan Ghat at Sasal kote, payment under PMAY-G etc.
Officers of the different departments also educated the public about a number of schemes and programs being implemented in the district and motivated them to avail the benefits of the same. They also replied to queries raised by the public during the event.
Addressing the gathering, the DDC said that the District Administration is striving hard to take the district towards development by utilizing its potential in different sectors and all possible measures are being taken to provide the Govt services at the doorsteps of the general public.
Underlining the objective of the block diwas, he said that this public outreach event is aimed at better coverage of government schemes, enhanced interaction with common man and effective monitoring of the developmental projects.
Terming the public participation necessary for achieving the goals of development, he said the District Administration is committed to ensure the equitable development of all the regions of the district.
Expressing the strong resolve of the District Administration to ensure transparency and accountability in its functioning, he also said that we are taking concrete measures to make Government services more transparent, easily accessible to the public.
Reiterating the Government’s commitment to provide sustainable livelihood to unemployed youth, the DDC said that dedicated efforts are being made to generate more employment avenues to help the unemployed youth by providing them the necessary platforms so that they are able to earn on their own.
Highlighting several Government schemes and programs meant for the welfare of the general public, he urged the people to come forward and avail the necessary benefits of the same.
While addressing the issues and demands of the general public, he also exhorted the officers to take immediate measures to mitigate the problems of the people highlighted during the public outreach programme. He also gave on the spot directions to the concerned departments for taking necessary steps to meet the genuine demands of the local people.
Responding to the issue of the establishment of an Eklavya Model Residential School, the DDC informed that the proposal in this regard stands submitted to the concerned authorities for necessary action at their end.
Regarding maintaining continuous power supply to the BSNL broadband at Doongi, he asked the concerned officer from the PDD to take effective measures to resolve the issue.
For wide publicity to the schemes implemented by the Fisheries and poultry sector, the DDC asked the concerned officers to organise special awareness camps at different locations and educate the masses about the schemes.
In order to mitigate the power supply issues of the general public, he asked the concerned officer to set up a helpline number and ensure that the genuine concerns of the public are redressed in a time bound manner.
Stressing upon the officers to work with dedication and in a mission mode, he asked them to ensure the time-bound completion of work on the developmental projects and maintain the quality while working on developmental projects.
He also asked them to ensure the better implementation of the Govt schemes on ground and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out from availing the benefits of these schemes.
