Jammu : As part of nationwide launch of drive for distribution of Pradhan MantriFasalBimaYojna (PMFBY) Policies to the farmers, a programme was organised Saturday at Kisan Kendra, TalabTillo, under the chairmanship of Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare, Jammu, K. The Director Agriculture handed over Policy Papers of Fasal Bima to 15 farmers of Jammu District.
Speaking on the occasion, the Director Agriculture outlined that purpose of the drive is to deliver crop insurance policies to the farmers at their doorstep under “Meri Policy Mere Hath” and to ensure that all the farmers are made aware and equipped with all information of their policy, process of claims and grievances redress under PMFBY.
“PMFBY is a flagship scheme of Government of India (GOI) and is aimed at providing financial support to the farmers in case of crop losses arising out of natural calamities” , he said. He informed that the distribution drive has been simultaneously started Saturday in four districts of J&K including Jammu, Samba, Udhampur and Anantnag. “The policy documents will be handed over to the farmers in person by the field functionaries of the agriculture department and further all the eligible farmers will be covered within a fortnight’s time” he informed.
