Army Commander visits 16 corps, reviews security situation

Jammu :A day after recovery of drone -dropped arms and ammunition from Jammu border, Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief Northern Command visited Nagrota based 16 Corps to review the security situation along borders and hinterland.
Jammu based defence spokesperson Lt Col Devender Anand said that the General officer was received by Lieutenant General Manjinder Singh, GOC, 16 Corps, who briefed him on the prevailing security situation and the operational preparedness of the Corps in Area of Responsibility.
This was the maiden visit of the Northern Army Commander to 16 Corps also known as White Knight Corps after taking over the command of Northern Command.
“The Army Commander expressed his satisfaction and confidence in White Knight Corps to successfully meet all challenges at any given time,” the spokesperson said.
The Army Commander interacted with senior officers of the Corps Headquarter and appreciated the ongoing efforts made by all personnel of the Corps towards ensuring security and stability in the region.
“He also lauded the efforts towards upliftment of the youth and the special efforts made towards empowerment of women under various projects of Op Sadbhavana,” the spokesman said.
Police said that on the basis of inputs regarding drone activity and dropping of arms and ammunition by militant outfits LeT and TRF, a special search operation was launched by SOG and police and three boxes containing arms and ammunition dropped through drone during night hours were recovered in Treva village of Arnia.
The recovery includes one pistol, six grenades, 70bullets, 3 remote controlled IEDs, 3 detonators and other materials.
Additional Director General, (Western Command) Chandigarh of Border Secirity Force, P V Rama Sastry concluded three day long visit of Jammu Frontier.
Accompanied by D K Boora, Inspector General, Jammu Frontier and other officers , The AGD BSF had detailed presentation of all the critical aspects of BSF and domination on Jammu International Border and Line of Control.
A special emphasis was given on the Drone threat posed by Pak Drones a betting Smuggling of Weapons/Narcotics from across the border to Indian Territory. The ADG visited LC area of Sunderbani Sector and Jammu IB
