Ganderbal & Sopore : Police on Wednesdaysaid that it has arrested three drug peddlers in Ganderbal & Sopore and also recovered psychotropic substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesdays police said that officers from Police Post Shadipora at a checkpoint established near Shadipora Bridge intercepted two persons in a suspicious manner who tried to flee away from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party and upon checking, officers recovered 24 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from their possession.
Police in it’s statement also said that the said accused have been identified as Mohd Yaseen Ganai son of Bashir Ahmad Ganie and Mohd YounisGanie son of Mohd Rafiq Ganie both residents of Arampora Sumbal.
Stating that in yet another similar action in Sopore, officers from PP Watergam under the supervision of SDPO Rafiabad at a checkpoint established at Ladoora crossing intercepted one person identified as Bilal Ahmad Ganie son of Munawar Ahmad Ganie resident of Ladoora Rafiabad, police in it’s statement said that during checking, officers recovered 1520 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon tablets from the possession of the accused. “All the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody”, reads the police statement, adding that “cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigation has been initiated”.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
