Srinagar | Feb, 19 : A soldier of Army’s counter insurgency unit and a militant were on Saturday killed in a gun battle in Chermarg village of South Kashmir’s Shopian district, official sources said.
The gun battle erupted at Chermarg village in South Kashmir’s Shopian district when joint teams of police, Army and CRPF were carrying a cordon and a search operation following input about the presence of a militant in the area.“In the ensuing gunfight two soldiers were wounded who were shifted to a medical facility where one of them succumbed to his injuries,” official sources said. “So far in the operation an unidentified militant has been killed.” Kashmir Zone Police on it’s twitter handle has only confirmed death of one militant. Police said search operation is continuing.
