Srinagar : J&K Students Association (JKSA) here on Thursday urged Kashmiri students studying outside not to write provocative content on social media.
In a statement issued here on Thursday the National Spokesperson of the association, Nasir Khuehami said, “we urge all Kashmir studying outside Kashmir to desist from any activity that could disrupt peace.”
He said that a minor Kashmiri student studying in Swami Vivekanand PG College Neemuch Madhya Pradesh posted an objectionable video on social media regarding Pulwama attack. “The student studying under the Prime Minister’s Special Scholarship Scheme posted a video of the slain Jawans of Pulwama attack on social media & wrote it as Babri Masjids’ revenge. A complaint has been filed on behalf of the college against the student and Student is presently under Police Custody, Khuehami said while quoting Principal of college Vijay jain.”
He has been arrested and booked under Sedition under section Indian Penal Code Sections 124A (sedition), 153A & 505 after his controversial posts on social media pertaining to the Pulwama Attack in 2019 came to light. The mobile phone and laptop of the student have been seized and are being checked, he said.
Condemning the action in harshest of words, Khuehami said the aspiration urge all Kashmiri students to focus on their education and not to write provocative things on social media to add fuel to the fire.
“We requested students to avoid debates and don’t get provoked on sentiments and not involve themselves in the mess. All Kashmiri students pursuing studies outside in Indian states should please be patient and keep calm and control emotions. They should remain calm and save their careers, instead of getting provoked. Their life, career and well-being is more important than social posts and they should not give anybody a chance to ruin their career.”
“We must respect everyone’s sentiment and not outburst the emotions where it hurts the sentiment of the others. The objectionable post has hurt sentiments of people, that is wrong and unjustified.”
He, however, said that sedition is very harsh punishment for the act they did and it will ruin their career as he is minor, Reconciliation with the students is the only way to further the cause of engaging with the students of Jammu and Kashmir, Khuehami emphasized
