Baramulla : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that Police in Baramulla at various checkpoints established across the district have arrested four drug peddlers identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah son of Gh Ahmad Shah resident of Shah MohallaNihalpora, Amandeep Singh son of Jaqtar Singh resident of Hoshiarpur Punjab, Aqib Sheikh son of Bashir Ahmad Sheikh resident of Sheikh MohallahMahin& Sameer Ahmad Sheikh son of Gulab Sheikh resident of Hawal Srinagar A/P WariporaKunzer and recovered 05 Kgs of Poppy Straw & 385 grams of Charas from their possession.
Stating that the vehicle (MarutiErtiga) bearing registration No PB07BC-8625 was also used in the commission of crime and all the arrested drug peddlers have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said that the cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in Police Station Pattan, Tangmarg and Kunzer in this regard and further investigations has been initiated.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
