Though one time age relaxation is by all standards of understandabilities a huge respite to those who had applied previously for the withdrawn posts but the candidates who were waiting for results of their interviews recently conducted by Jammu & Kashmir Public Service Commission (J&K PSC) and J&K Services Selection Board the two top recruiting bodies for various posts have some genuine grievances over re-advertisement of such posts. The demand of the candidates to exempt such posts from re-advertisements for which interviews were held recently but results were not announced for one reason or the other deserves attention and intervention of the government keeping in view the fact that the increasing participation of fresh applicants after re-advertisement of such posts will reduce the scope of previous applicants for selections to these posts. Since higher merit and higher qualification would be obviously an advantage for the fresh applicants, the previous applicants despite having appeared in the interviews won’t find themselves well placed in the competition amid huge participation of fresh applicants for selection to the same posts after re-advertisement. While main motive of the government to re-advertise the withdrawn posts is transparency, the candidates demanding exemption from re-advertisements of such posts for which interviews were conducted recently but results could be not announced for one reason or other are just conveying a point to government that punishing candidates for delay in results of interviews caused by either J&K Public Service Commission (J&K PSC) or J&K Services Selection Board (J&K SSB) is not fair. Obviously demand for exemption from re-advertisements for certain posts by the candidates recently interviewed for such posts shows that youth of Jammu & Kashmir tend to grab every job opportunity thrown open to them by the government and don’t want to miss even a single job opportunity within or outside the government due to rise in employment during last three years of pandemic in Jammu & Kashmir.
Though one time age relaxation for the previous applicants of the withdrawn posts is a big respite to them but exemption from advertisements to applicants of posts for which interviews have been recently held could be a huge concession only for few dozen candidates but not hundreds. Nothing would if dozens of posts are exempted from re-advertisement on the grounds that interviews were conducted but results could not be announced by the recruiting bodies for one or the other reason.
Looking at the rising trends of unemployment during last three years of covid-19 pandemic, the demand for exemption from re-advertisements of such posts for which interviews were held but results could not be announced during last couple of months deserves a consideration on the recommendations of concerned recruiting body, be it J&K Public Service Commission or J&K Services Selection Board. Since the educated youth of Jammu & Kashmir don’t find greater job opportunities in the private sector, they don’t want to miss even a single job opportunity thrown open to them by government. Though one time age relaxation for the previous applicants of the withdrawn posts is a big respite to them but exemption from advertisements to applicants of posts for which interviews have been recently held could be a huge concession only for few dozen candidates but not hundreds.
