IPPI: 109705 children in 0-5 age group to get polio vaccine across Rajouri distt

Rajouri : District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal Tuesday called for making best possible efforts to ensure hundred per cent coverage of children between 0 to 5 years under Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization campaign.
He was chairing a meeting of the District Level Task Force for IPPI (Intensified Pulse Polio Immunization) to discuss the modalities for the smooth and successful conduct of the National Immunization Campaign for polio starting from February 27, 2022.
Officers who attended the meeting included Addl SP, Vivek Shekhar; ACP, Abdul Rashid Kohli; DSEO, Bilal Rashid Mir; CMO, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; Dy CMO/DIO, Dr Anees Altaf Nabi; MS DH, Dr Mehmood; DYO, Nitin Hangloo; ExEn PDD Rajouri, Narotam Kumar and Block Medical Officers.
At the outset, the CMO, Dr Shamim Un Nissa Bhatti apprised the meeting about the objective of the campaign.
It was given out that 109705 children of the district in the age group of 0-5 years will be administered polio vaccines in three days from February 27 , 2022 to February 29, 2022 for which 41 vaccine distribution centres have been set up in different medical blocks.
It was also informed that 639 vaccination booths have been established in different medical blocks of the district with the adequate deployment of officials from different departments. Besides, the services of health workers along with supervisory teams, Anganwadi workers and Asha workers have also been sought for proper execution and monitoring of the immunization process.
She said that on the first day, children will be administered vaccination at booth level and on the second and third day, a house to house vaccination drive shall be organised to cover the left out children of the district.
It was also highlighted that 10 transit points have also been established at specific locations to cover children who may have skipped vaccination while in transit.
Addressing the officers in the meeting, the DDC said that it is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to achieve the fixed targets to keep the district polio-free.
He stressed for giving wide publicity to the program through mass media so that no child is left out especially in the far-flung areas of the district.
Meanwhile, the DDC also reviewed the progress of the ongoing Covid vaccination drive for the children between the 15-18 age group. He asked the Health Department to take effective measures to administer a second vaccine dose to all eligible children.
