Illegal extraction, transportation of minerals: 5 persons arrested, 5 vehicles seized, says police

Budgam : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested five persons on charges of illegal mining and transportation of minerals in central Kashmir’s budgam district and also seized five vehicles in this connection.
In a statement issued on Thursday police said that officers from Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established at Nasrullahpora Budgam intercepted five vehicles (Tippers) bearing registration numbers JKO4B-2327, JK01G-4106, JKO9-2519, JK09-3637 and JK01M-4081 involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals and seized all the vehicles on the spot , stating therein further that five persons have also been arrested and identified as Imran Ali son of Nazir Ahmed Dar resident of BeminaKhomeniChowk, Syed Mudasir son of Syed Kasim resident of Wahpora, Arshid Hussain Mir son of Ghulam Hassan Mir resident of KatiporaNasrullahpora, Abid Hussain Malla son of Ali Mohd Malla resident of Dargund Bemina and Manzoor Ahmed Wani Mir son of Mohammad Yousuf Wani resident of Bemina.
Stating that the above accused have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said that a Case vide FIR No. 29/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of its statement Police appealed people not to indulge in any kind of illegal mining activities from any Nallah as it is the violation of Government rules, warning therein that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law.
