The lecture was part of its ongoing monthly online lecture series.

In this disquisition, Prof. Auda deliberated upon “Maqasid approach to the Qur’an towards a Post-colonial discourse.
He brought to the limelight, among other things, the concept of the higher objectives of Islam and the methodology of reading the Qur’an, the Islamic Scripture, in the light of these objectives.

While referring to the “clash of ideas” vis-à-vis colonization and post-colonization, Prof. Auda argued for a Qur’anic understanding of the issues faced by Muslims in the present times.

The session was attended by more than hundred participants, including faculty members, research scholars, students of IUST along with a number of other participants from other universities within India and abroad.

The session was presided over by Dean Academic Affairs, IUST, Prof. A. H. Moon, who in his presidential remarks, expressed his utmost pleasure with the event and congratulated the DIS department, for organizing such programs.

Earlier head, DIS, Dr. Afroz Ahmad Bisati, introduced the theme of the lecture, and delivered the welcome address.
