Jammu : Rashtriya Kavi Sangam, Jammu- Kashmir today organized a Kavi Sammelin at Bhardwaj High School, Barui near Akhnoor to commemorate the birthday of the leagendary Dogri poet Late (Sh.)Yash Sharma. A Dogri translation book of Bhagvad Gita, authored by Kiran Prabha, was also rekeased during the programme. Smt. Seema Anil sehgal, daughter of Yash Sharma was the chief guest whereas Sh. Jang S. Verman, well known painter, writer and columnist on Art & Culture, Sh. Vijay Mangotra, well known, journalist, actor and social activist, and Bunty Cartoonist, a renowned cartoonist were the special guests on this occasion. The programme was convened by Kavi Kewal Kumar Kewal, a well known Hindi & Dogri poet and Sh. Dharampal. Many prominent citizens of the village were also present in the programme.
On the onset of the programme the guests were formally welcomed and honuored by the organizers. In his welcome address, Sh. Kewal Kumar congratulated Kiran Prabha for her cobtribution of translated work of Bhagvad Gita and said that Rashtriya Kavi Sangam would carry out such programmes in the village in future also. A poet Ratan Bhardwaj read out a paper on the released book and the contribution of Kiran Prabhi in the field of Dogri language.
Speaking on this occasion Kiran Prabha said that this is her humble effort that may give readers a comfotable reading. The local poets who read out their poetry in the Kavi Sammelin included Pawan Kumar Sharma, Mamta Sharma, Renu Sharma, Mohan Bharti, Virender Mishra, Mohan Singh Jamwal, Roshan Bral, Vinod Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Jang S. Verman and others. A Dogri dance permance was staged by a young female dancer Ritika Sharma. In her address Smt. Seema Anil Sehgal congratulated Kiran Prabha for presenting the Dogra community a valuable gift, which will help people know about the Bhagvat Gita in Dogri language along with Sanskrit and Hindi. She shared some of the memoirs of Sh. Yash Sharma. A vote ofthanks was extended by Sh. Vrandavan, the Lamberdar of the village.
