GDC Kathua organises Webinar on “Strategies to build a Successful Career”

Jammu  : Career Counselling and Placement Cell of Government Degree College Kathua on Saturday organized an Interactive Webinar on “Strategies to build a Successful Career”.
The College Principal Dr.M. S. Pathania was the Chief Guest while Prof. Raj Kiran Sharma, Officiating Principal Govt Degree College Kathua was the Guest of Honour.
Dr. Sourabh Shastri, Sr. Assistant Professor and Incharge Head, Department of Computer Science & IT, Kathua Campus, University of Jammu was the resource person.
In his address, Dr. M.S Pathania appreciated the Career Counselling and Placement Cell of College for organizing such types of motivational programmes for the betterment of students. He deliberated on the employment opportunities available to students and motivated them to become job creators instead of job seekers.
Prof. Raj Kiran Sharma, in her address, advised the students to stay aware about the fast changing world. She further stressed on students to start their own ventures by taking benefit of various Government Schemes like Start Up initiative of Govt. of India.
The Resource Person explained different strategies for building a successful career. He brought up the argument of the rising need of entrepreneurs in the present scenario.
Emphasizing on the need of “Action” in planning a successful career, he suggested the students to bring forward innovative ideas. He drew the attention of the students towards the shifted focus of the present Government towards Start-ups in India with its new policy of tax relaxation for start-ups for another year. He motivated the students to learn new skills and add something new whenever possible. Drawing onto examples of entrepreneurs who have built from the scratch, he encouraged the students to believe in their potential. He said innovative minds have magnificent possibilities in India. He pondered over the importance of designing and planning a career which will bring ultimate success that is not momentary but everlasting. Earlier, the programme began with the welcome address by Prof. Rakesh Singh, Convener, Career Counselling and Placement Cell, GDC Kathua. He highlighted the importance of such programmes and motivated students to be part of such events in future also as the same will help them to give a direction to their career and decide about their future. The vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Pankaj Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry. Over 100 students participated in the Interactive Webinar. Queries raised by students were well answered by the resource person. Among others who attended the Webinar were Dr.Verinder Singh, Dr. Kamaldeep Singh,Dr. Rachna Devi (Edu) Prof. Shweta Swaroop, Prof. Nisha Bhagat ,Dr. Renu Gupta and Prof. Neha Mahajan.
