Ganderbal : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested a fraudster in Ganderbal for fleecing people on the pretext of providing government jobs.
In a statement issued on Wednesday Police said that Post Shadipora received a written complaint from one person Tariq Ahmad Bhat son of Ali Mohammad Bhat resident of Hayan Palpora Kangan stating therein that he has been duped by a fraudster identified as Amir Mehraj Parra @Dr Amir son of Mehraj-din Parra resident of Zazuna Ganderbal for a sum of ₹5.00 lacs on the pretext of providing him government job.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 06/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation taken up, police in the above referred statement further said that a special team headed by In-charge PP Shadipora was constituted to investigate the matter and during the course of investigation, it was revealed that the fraudster has cheated many people across Kashmir Valley following which Phone calls were also received from different people across the valley with the same allegations and charges that the accused has cheated them by using the same modus operandi.
“The accused used to get the money in his account through different ways Via MPay, Net Banking etc. and was beguiling the payee that he or she shall have proof of transaction by this means”, reads the police statement, adding therein that “further investigation into the matter is in progress”.
Police has appealed people to be aware of such job scams and not to fell prey to fraudsters promising jobs in lieu of money.
2 drug peddlers arrested in Baramulla & Sopore, contraband substances recovered: Police

Baramulla | Feb, 2: Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Baramulla & Sopore and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that officers from Police Station Uri under the supervision of SDPO Uri arrested one person identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Mir son of Mutwali Mir resident of Daragutliyan Uri and recovered 38 grams of Charas from his possession following which the accused was shifted to police station where he remains in custody, Stating therein further that a case under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Uri and investigation has been taken up.
Stating that in a similar incident a police party of Police Post Fruit Mandi at a checkpoint established at Achabal intercepted a vehicle (Taveera) bearing registration number JK01W-9880 driven by one person identified as Waseem Ahmad Wani son of Ghulam Hassan Wani resident of Zangam Pattan, police it’s statement said that during checking, 100 Capsules of Spasmoproxyvon Plus were recovered from his possession following which the accused was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody and vehicle used in the commission of crime was also seized.
Police in the above referred statement also said that a case vide FIR No. 19/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and further investigation has been initiated.
Police in the concluding para of it’s statement appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that actions against drug peddlers are takento keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
