Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt. P.G. College for Women celebrates World Wetlands Day

Jammu : Department of Botany, Padma Shri Padma Sachdev Govt. P.G. College for Women, Gandhinagar Jammu on Wednesday celebrated “World Wetlands Day” here under the Patronage of Principal Dr. Sangita Nagari.
To mark the day, an online Poster Making Competition on the theme “Wetlands Action for People and Nature” was organised. The aim for celebrating the day was to make the students aware about the importance of Wetlands for survival of people and mother planet.
The theme of World Wetlands Day 2022 – Wetlands Action for People and Nature, highlights the importance of action to ensure that Wetlands are conserved and sustainably used for humans and planetary health.
A total of 27 students showcased their creative talent by making beautiful posters.
Mehak Gupta of BSc.Sem.- 3 and Pallavi Sharma of BSc.Sem.-1 clinched First and Second Positions, respectively, while the third position was shared by Prakriti Sharma and Pallavi Choudhary of BSc Sem.-1.
The consolation-1 and consolation-2 positions were conferred on Riya Tagotra of BSc. Sem.-1 and Akshi Sharma of BSc. Sem.-3.
Dr. Sangita Nagari, Principal of the College applauded the students for their participation and congratulated the winners. She emphasized the importance of wetland ecosystems in supporting variety of life forms. She appreciated the efforts of convener of event and Head of Department of Botany, Prof. Mala Bhasin and members of organising Committee- Dr. Renu Sharma and Prof. Meenakshi Sharma for organising the event successfully.
Dr. Harjeet Kour Sodhi and Prof. Sania Hamid of Department of Botany adjudged the event efficiently. A video of the posters was also made and posted on the social media platforms to spread awareness about the conservation of Wetlands.
