Srinagar : National Health Mission, J&K awarded the 105 best functionaries of ASHA Programme in J&K on the occasion of 73rd Republic Day celebration. The awards were presented to ASHAs, ASHA Facilitators, Block ASHA Coordinators, District ASHA Coordinators, State Trainers and Block/ District Programme Management Units in recognition of their contribution to make ASHA programme successful in J&K.
In each district, District Development Commissioner handed over the Appreciation Certificates and cash reward worth Rs. 5000 to each selected functionary.
Congratulating the winner, Yasin Choudhary, MD, NHM J&K said, “ASHA functionaries form a vital link between the Health Department and the people. This recognition is a token of appreciation for their valuable contribution in implementing all health schemes at the grass root level. We selected 2 ASHAs per District, 2 ASHA Facilitators per Division, 3 Block ASHA Coordinators per Division, 1 District ASHA Coordinator per Division and 1 State ASHA Trainer per Division based on their performance. In addition, 1 District Programme Manager, 1 District Accounts Manager and 1 District Monitoring & Evaluation Officer, 2 Block Monitoring Evaluation Officers and 2 Block Accounts Managers per Division have also been selected for awards based on their performance. I congratulate all the winners for their achievement.”
He further added, considering the role of ASHA functionaries in healthcare delivery at the ground level and specially during COVID-19 pandemic, Vivek Bhardwaj, Additional Chief Secretary, Health & Medical Education, J&K decided to start this award to recognize the best performers.
At present, about 13000 ASHAs and ASHA Cadres are functional in Jammu & Kashmir.
