Covid protocols the key to covid containment

Normal public activities have come under stress with the unprecedented rise in the ongoing third wave of covid-19 pandemic that has finally forced the execution of weekend lockdowns in Jammu & Kashmir like several states and union territories of the country. Wise enough to impose weekend lockdowns to reduce the increasing intensity of the current wave of pandemic that has raised the daily case count to 5000 a day an all time highest spike recorded so for and as such in the emerging covid scenario the people’s response to covid protocols alone can reduce the increasing no of case count in both Kashmir valley and Jammu division. Interestingly three days of covid lockdown had brought down the case count by 700, i.e, from 3500 a day to 2800 a day and as such it is quite obvious that in presence of covid protocol violations in markets and other public places the enforcement of lockdown is the only way to reduce the rising case count in Jammu & Kashmir. Since the dip in the case count witnessed in three days of weekend lockdown shows that crowding at public places like markets and unwanted movements of the people are the bigger causes of unprecedented increase in the current intensity of the pandemic, the public response to covid protocols in the emerging covid scenario holds key to restoration of normal public activities in Jammu & Kashmir like several other parts of the country. It is for the people to show wisdom by responding overwhelmingly to covid protocols for the purposes of reducing the scope for complete lockdown and further the prospects of normalistion of public activities keeping in view the impact of lockdown on business operations, educational and trading activities and the pace of developmental activities in both Kashmir valley and Jammu division.

Violating the protocols and wanting the government to take a lenient view on complete lockdown amid unprecedented rise in the covid case counts is against the spirits of human wisdom and henceforth such thinking is very bad on the part of the people. Better for the people to show overwhelming response to covid protocols for security both their lives and as well as their livelihoods.

Since irrefutable fact is that the people in Jammu & Kashmir mostly survive on conventional business operations and tourism and travel activities, it is for the people to respond overwhelmingly to covid protocols to further the prospects of their health safety against the Omicron the new variant of pandemic and reduce the chances of a complete lockdown for securing their own livelihoods in traditional business operations in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division.
