DC Bandipora briefs on Covid-19 situation in the district

Bandipora : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Wednesday said that the district administration is fully prepared to deal with any kind of situation with regard to the pandemic and sought people’s cooperation in dealing with the pandemic.
While briefing media about the covid situation in the district, Dr Owais said there are 85 active positive cases in the district with only two patients under hospital isolation. He said the district witnessed a surge in positive cases from the past two weeks.
He said keeping in view the surge in cases the daily testing has been intensified and doubled so as to identify the positive cases. He said if need arises, daily tests will be increased. He said that he has directed concerned officers to enhance the existing daily sampling numbers and set a revised target of 3100 tests per day including 700 RTPCR and 2400 RAT.
The Dc said all the SOPs with regard to the Covid positive patients are being followed strictly including Home Isolation protocols, Covid Appropriate Behavior, Contact tracing and other related issues. He said the international travelers are being scrutinized strictly and till date reports of 13 travelers were received out of which one was found covid positive though the passenger was found negative to omicron variant.
He said the vaccination for age group 15-18 Years Old is going on in full swing and 13 percent of target has been reached within a week’s time hereby giving 3558 doses till date. He appealed to left out youngsters of the given age group to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
Dr Owais said the pandemic is not over yet and hence the need is to remain cautious till the pandemic is over. He warned of strict action against violation of CAB. The DC appealed to the religious leaders, traders and other prominent citizens to put their efforts and make the common people aware about the Covid-19 SOPs.
