Block Diwas: DDC urges people to supplement efforts of admin for taking Rajouri distt to new heights of dev

Officers asked to take effective measures for quality disposal of public concerns

Rajouri| : District Development Commissioner Rajouri, VikasKundal Wednesday said that the District Administration is making untiring efforts to meet the developmental aspirations of the public and urged people to supplement the efforts of the administration in taking the district to new heights of development. He was chairing Block Diwas proceedings at Darhal.
DDC Member Rajouri, Sai Abdul Rashid; DDC Member Darhal, Iqbal Malik; Sarpanches, panches and people in large numbers attended the event.
The team of officers present included ASP, VivekShekhar; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; GM DIC, ManzoorHussain; PO ICDS, Kartar Singh; CHO, Madam besides all District and Sectoral Officers.
At the outset, the DDC inspected the stalls put up by different departments at the venue and enquired about the services being provided to the general public under various schemes and programs.
The public and their representatives apprised the DDC about a number of issues and demands of their areas, includingmacadamization of roads, upgradation of schools, better health services, paucity of staff in Govt institutions besides other related issues were projected during the event.
Specific issues projected included delay in restoration of power supply, unscheduled power cuts, delayed payments under PMAY and MGNREGA, dilapidated condition of roads from Rajouri to Darhal, shortage of drinking water facility, dumping of construction material on roadsides, delay in the execution of works under District Capex, shortage of water pipes etc.
They demanded construction of road from Golden Institute to Fatehpur, repair and renovation of HSS Fatehpur, construction of road from Aitti to Fatehpur, sanctioning of a health sub centre at Gurian, delay in execution of works under B2V, road from main road to HSS Fatehpur and other related issues.
Other issues included blacktopping of road from Chattar to Ujhan, blacklisting of non performing contractors, filling of potholes on roads, paucity of staff in CHC Darhal, repairing of old hand pumps, exaggerated electricity bills, setting up a Munsif court at Darhal, sanctioning of additional anganwadi centres etc.
The concerned officers also responded to the issues and demands pertaining to their departments raised by the public on the occasion. Additional Superintendent of Police, VivekShekhar also spoke on the menace of drug abuse and appealed to the younger generation not to fall prey to the menace and advised them to take part in healthy sports activities to remain physically and mentally fit.
The DDC gave a patient hearing to all the issues and demands projected on the occasion and assured the public that all their genuine concerns would be redressed in a time bound manner.
Addressing the gathering during the event, the DDC said that untiring efforts are being made to address the public problems and make services & welfare schemes easily accessible to citizens.
Taking strong note of complaints being received from the public regarding unscheduled power cuts, the DDC asked the concerned officer from the PDD to make sure that power is supplied to all the households of the district while strictly adhering to the curtailment schedules.
He also informed that a control room has been set up by the District Administration to redress water and power related issues of the public and asked the people to contact the designated officers/ officials in the control room to register their grievances and to get them redressed in a time bound manner.
For the sanctioning of additional Anganwari centres, the DDC informed that the proposal in this connection stands submitted to the concerned authorities for necessary action at their end.
Terming transparency, accountability, and responsiveness as the core objective of the Government, the DDC said that regular review and monitoring of the progress of development works is being done at all administrative levels. Now people can also monitor the utilisation of funds and the execution of development works in their areas.
Calling for strict adherence to covid protocols to contain COVID third wave, the DDC appealed to people of the Rajouri district to take all preventive measures against Covid-19 including wearing masks, following hand hygiene and maintaining social distance.
He added that the District Administration Rajouri has achieved the target of 100 percent vaccination of the adult population in the border district and effective measures are being taken to inoculate the entire population in the 15-18 age-group. He also appealed to the parents to get their children vaccinated at the earliest.
The DDC also distributed Domicile certificates among the beneficiaries.
He also informed that keeping in view the upsurge in the number of COVID-19 cases across the UT, the block Diwas shall remain suspended till the situation gets normal.
Similar Block Diwas events as per the roster issued by the DDC Rajouri have been organised at designated places to redress the public grievances and several Govt services have been provided to them at their doorsteps.
