Srinagar/July,25: Shutdown called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) against the arrest of seven separatist leaders on charges of funding for stone pelting and militant activities in Kashmir by National Investigating Agency (NIA) and restrictions imposed by the authorities to thwart street protests hit normal life in Kashmir today.
JRL has called for a complete shutdown today to protest the “illegal and revengeful arrest” of Hurriyat leaders by the National Investigation Agency.All the shops and other business establishments remained closed in Lal chowk area of Srinagar – region’s largest city. Reports of shutdown were also received from other district headquarters of the Valley. As the shutdown hit the movement of passenger transport,the work in government offices has almost come to a grinding halt in Srinagar and major town of Kashmir valley.
Restrictions are in place in areas falling under the jurisdiction of five police station of Srinagar city Nowhatta, MR Gunj, Rainawari, Khanyar and Safakadal .
