Bribery case: CBI arrests 2 Engineers of MEs

Jammu|: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested an Assistant Garrison Engineer and a Junior Engineer—both officials working in the office of Garrison Engineer, MES, Satwari, Jammu (J&K), for demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant.
According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a case was registered on complaint against the accused.
It was alleged that the complainant’s firm was awarded tender for special repair of a building at Jammu Cantt, under GE Satwari, Jammu.
It was further alleged that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 25,000 from the complainant for processing his pending bills. It was also alleged that part of the bribe of Rs 20,000 (Rs 10,000 to each accused) was to be paid immediately and the remaining amount later.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while demanding & accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant, it said, adding that the searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused including at Jammu, Bareilly and Prayagraj (UP).
“The arrested persons are being produced Saturday before the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jammu,” it said
