DC Doda discusses Skill dev plan at DSC meeting

Stress laid on linking training centres with industries, business units for practical exposure of trainees

Doda | : District Development Commissioner Doda, Vikas Sharma, who is also Chairman of the District Skill Committee, Thursday chaired the meeting of the committee members to discuss the Skill Development Plan.
At the outset, the Chairman was briefed about the District Skill Development Plan and the Skill Development courses being offered by institutions for the youth in the district.
Manujinder Singh, who is Mahatma Gandhi National Fellow (MGNF) for District Doda presented a detailed report on objectives and plan of action for Skill up-gradation and handholding of skilled youth. He also presented the sketch of courses run under PMKVY by Government and private institutes in the district.
It was decided in the meeting that MGF shall work out the number of unemployed skilled manpower in the district by taking help of line departments and work out a plan for their handholding. He was also directed to create a cluster in the district for Skill up-gradation related activities.
The DC directed the ADC Doda, ADC Bhaderwah and all the SDMs to inspect the working of the private institutes in their jurisdiction providing technical education under PMKVY and submit a report on their working. He directed the heads of all the ITIs and Principal Polytechnic College Doda to facilitate the practical exposure of trainees by organising their visits to the industries and business units for taking firsthand experience of the latest technologies which fit in their job profile and help in better earning.
The DC further directed to utilise the services of Mentors of Youth Clubs to mobilise the youth for job oriented short term courses. He also asked all the departments involved in providing Skill training in the district to furnush the list of those trained during last year and their present job status so that the relevance of the courses provided can be understood for future planning.
The meeting was attended by CPO Doda, CAO Doda, CHO Doda, DSWO Doda, DIO Doda, DEPO Doda, ALC Doda, AD Handicrafts Doda, Functional Manager DIC Doda, Principal Polytechnic Doda, Superintendent ITI Doda, LBM, District Manager SC/ ST Devcorporation, MNF Skill Development and representatives of the line departments.
