Ganderbal : Police on Friday said that it has arrested two persons and also seized 02 vehicles for illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
In a statement issued on Friday said that officers from PS Ganderbal have arrested two persons and seized two vehicles (Tippers) bearing registration numbers JK03A-0911 and JK04-9101 involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Nallah Sindh near Waheedpora Gangerhuma, Ganderbal, stating therein further that the detained persons have been identified as Mehraj-ud-din Guroo son of Gh Mohd Guroo and Sajad Ahmad Rather son of Nazir Ahmad Rather both residents of Gangerhuma.
Stating that the above named accused have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said that a Case vide FIR No. 232/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police said that people found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law and urged residents of the area to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
