DDC Pulwama reviews progress of registration of unorganized workers on e-SHRAM portal

Pulwama | : The District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Baseer Ul Haq Choudhary Thursday convened a meeting of DLIC members and reviewed the progress of registration of unorganized workers on the e-SHRAM portal.
The DDC emphasized on the need to expedite registration of unorganized workers on the e-SHRAM portal. He directed concerned to disseminate the benefits of registration among unorganized workers so that they are benefitted of the scheme.
During the meeting, the chair was informed that 70000 unorganized workers of the district have been registered since the launch of the e-Sharm portal.
While reviewing the sector wise progress in the registration of the unorganized workers/ labourers on the e-Sharm portal, the DDC asked for intensifying the registration process to ensure 100 percent coverage of intended beneficiaries.
The e-Shram registration will help to maintain the database of the unorganised workers which will be helpful in extending the benefit of social security schemes meant for these workers at ground level, the DDC said.
After registering he or she will get accidental insurance cover including permanent disability of Rs 2 Lakh and Rs 1 Lakh for partial disability, he added
The chair was informed that any worker who has been working in an unrecognized sector aged between 16-59years would be eligible to register on the e-Sharm portal.
It was also informed that the registrations for the scheme are free of cost and the workers do not have to pay any registration fees.
DDC directed the Tehsildars to mobilize field functionaries to speed up the process of registration and ensure completion of all unorganized workers within stipulated time frame.
Among others the meeting was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner, Pulwama Dr Sheikh Ab Aziz, Additional Deputy Commissioner Tral, and all the line departments and representatives of CSCs.
