National Mathematics Week- 2021 concludes at GCW Parade

Jammu | : The National Mathematics Week- 2021 activities concluded Wednesday in Government Degree College for Women Parade with the screening of a movie.
The movie “The man who knew infinity” based on the life and preaching of Srinivisan Ramanujan was specially screened to inculcate an interest in students for Mathematics and to drive an inspiration from the struggles he went through. The objective behind celebrating this event was to promote Mathematics among students.
Multiple events started from 18th December 2021 with the inaugural function. Inter-college Quiz competition, intra-college Poster Making competition, inter-college Rangoli Competition, and an open symposia on Mathematics were the major events.
Students interacted with the invited guests including renowned Mathematician of Jammu province e.g. Dr. Romesh Sharma (Professor in Department of Mathematics, University of Jammu), Dr. Sunil Gupta (Controller of Examination, BOPEE), Professor Daleep Raina (Principal, GDC, Mandher), Dr. T.K. Sharma (Principal, GDC, Gool), Dr. Meeru Abrol (Principal GDC, Ramgarh), Dr. Sandeep Sharma (Assistant Professor, SMVDU), Dr. Heeera Saini (Assistant Professor, GCET).
In the inter-college Quiz Competition, three teams participated. Team A from GDC, Ramgarh comprising. Shikha Sharma, Abhi Kumar, Karan Singh stood first, Team B from GCW parade Ground, Jammu comprising Divya Kumari, Komal Vaid and Akriti Ganjoo stood second and Team C from GDC, Vijaypur comprising Shail Lalotra , Sahil Kumar and Arun Ramotra stood third.
The Intra-college Poster making competition was won by Heena Khan with Diksha bagging second position and Akriti winning third place.
The Inter-college Rangoli competition was won by the GDC Ramgarh team comprising Sourav Kumar and Abhi Kumar. Team from GCW, Parade Ground consisting of Ridhika and Meenakshi Rana stood second and third prize was clinched by two teams of GCW Parade Ground Khushi, Janvi, Meenkashi and Neelam.
In the Inter-college Symposia, student from GCW, Parade Ground Komal Vaid, Kirti Sharma got 1st and 2nd prize respectively and the 3rd prize was again clinched by two students of GCW, parade ground namely Diksha Jalotra and Nishtha Kour.
The Judges of the events were Dr. Sunil Gupta, Dr. Romesh Sharma, Prof. Neena Gupta (HOD, Political Science), Avinash Gupta (HOD, Chemistry), Dr. S.K. Dhar (Convenor IQAC), Dr. Jagdish Sharma (Dept. of Mathematics), Dr. Sheetal Sharma (HOD Mathematics, GDC Vijaypur).
Dr. Mamta Sharma (HOD, Sanskrit) prepared the girls for Namagiri Shalok to be presented every day before the start of events. Dr. Anupama Sharma, Dr. Jasmeet Kour and Mr. Parvinder Singh of Dept. of Music helped the students with Sarswati Vandana. The Program was organized by the Dept. of Mathematics, GCW parade Ground, Jammu under the guidance of the Principal of the college Dr. S.P. Sarswat. The comparer for all the events was Suhana Sharma, Pallvi Khajuria, Anjali Sharma, Khushi Angurana and Diksha Choudhary.
Welcome address was delivered by HOD Mathematics, Dr. Sushma Chib and Prof. Anita Sharma from Dept. of Mathematics presented a formal Vote of Thanks. Technical issues were handled by Navedika Mishra, Antriksh Sehgal and Pranav Sharma.
