Srinagar |  : Jammu & Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee ( J&K EJAC) held a strong demonstration on Thursday at press enclave Srinagar demanding regularisation of daily wagers, adhoc and temporary employees working in different departments of JK for last two decades. Led by President EJAC Mohd Rafique Rather EJAC and Gen Secretary Sajad Parray, leaders along scores of EJAC activists holding play cards in their hands with slogans in favour of regularisation of daily wagers, adhoc and temporary employees, raised slogans in favour of their demands of regularisation policy and minimum wages Act.
Talking to reporters President EJAC Mohd Rafiqur Rather said that regularisation issue of adhoc, temporary and daily wagers is a human issue which government need to address on priority. He said that regularisation of big chunk of such employees is a genuine and legitimate issue which has been agreed and accepted by respective governments but it’s strange that nothing in this regard has been done so for. He said that these employees have been performing their duties in extremely tough conditions and have always been standing shoulder to shoulder with other regularised employees but still they are paid a meager pay that too after even months. Rather said that government has left these employees to starvation and has made their families to suffer, with the result their wards do not receive proper education and elderly people suffer for want of proper medication. He further stressed upon the government to implement minimum wages act as per the Supreme Court ruling till the regularisation policy is announced. President EJAC expressed surprise on the attitude of government and said that no seriousness is shown by the government towards these genuine demands.
Rafique Rather said that he has handed over a memorandum to worthy chief secretary and almost all advisors of the government in this regard but nothing concrete has come out so for. He said that if such an attitude continues to be witnessed from the government, EJAC will be left with no option but to hit the streets with all employees of J&K in nook and corner of J&K. Flanked by Sr EJAC leaders Wajahat Durani, Farooq Khan, Nazir Ahmad khan, Mushtaq Ahmad, Fayaz Ahmad Agri and scores of other EJAC leaders and activists, Rather said that protests will continue till demands are accepted and added that EJAC will not rest until justice is delivered to these poor employees. He appealed Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary A K Mehta to formulate a comprehensive regularisation in favour of these employees so that they to live a dignified life.
