Reasi: ADDC reviews tobacco control measures at DLCC meeting

Reasi : District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) on National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), comprising of District Level Heads of Government Departments, Civil Society, Media & Other Stakeholders met here Tuesday under the Chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner Reasi, Jyoti Rani Salathia to review implementation of the Tobacco Control measures.
The meeting was convened by District Health Society Reasi in Collaboration with International Union against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease here in the Video Conference hall of District Administrative Complex and attended by Principal Government Degree College Reasi, Chief Agriculture Officer Reasi, Chief Education Officer Reasi, Dy. SP Hqtrs Reasi, ARTO Reasi, Chief Medical Officer Reasi, MS DH Reasi, DHO Reasi, Dy CMO Reasi, DIO Reasi, BMOs all, Nodal Officer RBSK & School Health, ZMO, NGOs etc.
A brief Presentation & Role and Responsibility of designated Committee members on Tobacco Control was given by Chief Medical Officer, Reasi Dr Rajeev K. Sharma.
Further, Shiveta Raina, Divisional Coordinator Jammu (J&K) also gave a detailed presentation on NTPC & COTPA-2003. It was emphasized upon all the participants to help the administration in enforcing the NTCP & COTPA-2003 for the right case.
The ADDC directed strict enforcement of the law, particularly section 4, ban on smoking in public places and section 6(B) prohibition of sale of tobacco products within the 100 yards of Educational institutions in their respective areas.
She called for close coordination among implementing agencies for abolishing the ill effect of this menace from the society.
