GMS Chak Salarian named after 1971 war hero Subedar Lal Singh

Samba : District Administration Samba, under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, today named Government Middle School Chak Salarian Ramgarh after Shaheed Subedar Lal Singh, who attained martyrdom during 1971 War in Bangladesh.

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to name identified Government schools, colleges and public infrastructure including roads and buildings after Indian Army soldiers, CRPF and police personnel who laid their lives while performing their duty for the nation.

The MS Chak Salarian has been named as Subedar Lal Singh Memorial Government Middle School Chak Salarian, Ramgarh. The school was inaugurated by war veteran widow Mohinder Kour and his 03 sons.

Subedar Shri Lal Singh was born in village Chak Salarian of Ramgarh in the family of Karam Kour and Sh. Chanchal Singh. He got his primary education in village Malookan Wala and village Jakhan(Badala), now in Pakistan. At an age of 14 years 6 months he joined the Indian Army in the Punjab Regiment. He served in different parts of the country and took part in different operations. Subedar Lal Singh attained martyrdom on 1st December 1971 in an operation “Cactus Lily Eastern Theatre” during Bangladesh war.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Samba Suram Chand Sharma, while speaking on the occasion, threw light on the initiative of the Government under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav for acknowledging the sacrifices of our warriors made while safeguarding the frontiers of the country.

During the programme District Development Council member, Sarabjeet Singh Johal; BDC Chairman Ramgarh Darshan Singh; Additional District Development Commissioner Tilak Raj Shastri; Sub Divisional Magistrate Vijaypur Vinay Sharma besides other officers and locals were also present.
