Srinagar/July,21: Authorities did not allow congregational Friday prayers for the fifth consecutive week at the hisroric Jamia Masjid in Nowhata area in old Srinagar city in view of the plans of The plans of Jount Resistance leadership(JRL) to take iut a march to UN office at Sonawar barely two kilomerers away from cuty cebtre Lal Chowk in uptown Srinagar .
All gates of Jamia Masjid were locked by government forces while all roads leading to the historic mosque were blocked with concertina wires.
Curfew was imposed in areas falling under the jurisdiction of nine police stations in Srinagar to prevent people from assembling at the mosque with intents of taking out protest march to UN office Sonwar an uptown area.
Joint Resistance Leadership has called for a protest shutdown and march to the UN office in Sonwar to protest the civilian killings and rights violations in Kashmir.
