DHSK takes review of DNB progs in Kashmir hospitals

Srinagar/Dec, 9: Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather today chaired a meeting of health officials at Regional Institute of Health and Family Welfare (RIHFW) Dhobivan to review the assessment of accreditation of DNB programs across Kashmir hospitals.

The meeting was attended by Medical Superintendents of hospitals where DNB has been started and concerned BMOs, guides of applied DNB programs and specialties, Nodal Officer for ICUs, SPOC (Single Point of Contact) DNB concerned hospitals, DNB assistants besides other concerned health officers and officials were present.

The meeting discussed updated status of DNB applications in various DNB degree/ diploma courses and status of NBE inspections and registrations in various streams.

During the meeting, Dr Mushtaq said that the department is always available 24/7 for any guidance and assistance which may be needed from time to time.

“We will be watching and evaluating your progress and performances from time to time. Please do not take your positions for granted we know you are skilled, highly qualified, and competent doctors,” he said.

The director said we need to ensure that we will work with missionary zeal and zest to take the department towards achieving higher goals.

“Let me be honest that I will not hesitate to change a guide who is not performing and does not show interest, same is true about the administration,” he said.

During the meeting, Dr Mushtaq said all officials have to ensure that they work to their full potential to make the DNB program a resounding success.

“We are always available to see to it that all you genuine issues /problems are getting redressed at the earliest. I wish all of you best of luck in the future. I am sure that most of our hospitals will get accredited by NBE,” he said.

Status pertaining to paramedical/nursing staff including training nurses for theatre work, status of infrastructure, infrastructure in terms of blood banks, conference rooms /lecture halls while status of support services, including electricity, water supply, hospital sanitation, hospital security, mortuary, laundry were also discussed.Similarly status of permissions/pre-requisites in terms of Bio-Medical Waste Management, Fire Safety, CSSD, STP, AERB Blood Banks etc.

Procurement of furniture in hospitals, other requirements, status of machinery equipments and additional requirements thereof were also discussed.

Also the meeting reviewed issues pertaining to faculty, status of faculty and any issues thereof, action taken with regard to improving the caseload/case mixes
